“I bathe my body in the sweet aromas of
Jasmine, rose
Opiates to the being of our kind
Intoxicating our minds with its sweet drug..
Desire and design.”An excerpt from a poem I wrote “Awake”.

With Valentines Day just around the corner and the chill in the air still looming over us, were craving warmth and each other.  What better way to enjoy the pleasant feeling of another body pulling you close but by enticing them with the sweet aromas that Lush provides us with? They won’t be able to get enough of you, and your enduring scent.

Here’s a few of my favorite Lush products that linger that I know leaves  your lust-worthy crush with a craving they can’t resist, you. And besides, I love to indulge in a delicious long shower or bath that let’s us let our hair down and relax.

Let your luv-er be seduced …

I especially love using the “Godiva Solid Shampoo Bar”  on my tresses, a golden shampoo bar named after none other than a naked-protester, Godiva. The 100% vegan bar is easy to use with just a gentle rub & lather leaves your tresses with the sweet scent of Jasmine that can last all day.

For conditioner, I use  “Happy Happy Joy Joy”  that has a rose water, orange blossom water and almond milk base to soften that leaves your hair beautifully conditioned and soft for your luv-er to run their fingers through.  And what else? Orange flower absolute, rosewood and grapefruit oils perfume your hair to make you feel Happy Happy all day long.

And on those days when you just don’t feel like washing another day, yes we all have them: You can use Lush’s Dry Shampoo; No Drought that leaves your hair lingering with the aroma of Citrus fruits. No one will ever know.

Let’s journey a bit to your lips. You want your puckers to be soft and smooth so that when your sweetie leans in, they’ll be quite delighted they aren’t kissing sandpaper. Exfoliating your lips before you apply  your lipstick is a sure way to smooth lips. Try: Lush’s Sugar Lip Scrubs. Flavors: Sweet Lips (my favorite!), Bubble Gum & Mint Julips.

I believe that I must always, under every circumstance possess a smooth body. I’ll exfoliate my body with “Rub Rub Rub” before shaving, leaving my body tingling with the delight of smooth, soft skin.

After Shaving, I’ll use a shower gel, like Twilight. Unfortunately Twilight is limited edition and available during Christmas, but if you get your hands on it: It’s an absolute delight. I use mine sparingly. You can also get Twilight in a Bath Bomb version as well as a Gorilla Perfume (Online only). On Lush’s website Twilight is described as:

“Because we are all made of stars A lavender and malt notes shower gel to calm, relax and comfort as it helps you transition from day to night.  Do you want to look up at the night sky and remember that you are part of it? Then Twilight will help you connect.  For a good night’s sleep, use this before bed.”

Sometimes, for special occasions I will use Turkish Delight, which is scented with Rose Oil and the aphrodisiac of Jasmine. If you are feeling brave enough; make it a delicious smoothie of sensual indulgence when you mix in Ro’s Argon Body Conditioner, also scented with Rose but leaves your skin pleased.

Now that you know my favorite products while in the shower, let me tell you of my body lotion.

If I didn’t use Ro’S Argon, I’ll enjoy massaging Potion Lotion into my skin, not forgetting to miss any little crevice. Potion Lotion is great for layering scents as this too, has the scent of aphrodisiacs and then I’ll dust my skin with Lush’s Dust powder, Lustre that leave me with a golden twinkle.  Sometimes,I feel like loving on my  Vanilla Dee-lite, a lotion that is a sure way to satisfy a sweet tooth.

Now, the next and last beauty item that I love at Lush is a must; perfume. This is the one thing that will always leave the lingered scent of you.

I spritz “Lust” on my pressure points, Lush’s Gorilla Perfume that is scented with the dirtiest, sexiest jasmine imaginable; it’s absolutely gorgeous.

Were not done yet. Lush has a few luv-ly special edition products for Valentines day;

Tender is the Night: A sexy massage Bar that you can share with your lover on the special night or use on yourself to leave your skin touchable.

& for the single ladies: The Ex-Factor: A bath bomb that’s described as a  sweet, vanilla-scented voodoo for spurned lovers.

So, head into  your nearest and for me, dearest Lush and purchase your lover, or yourself a vegan treat for Valentines Day.

I hope this little article lingers for you as much as it does for me.

You can purchase more Lush products that are available at: http://www.lush.com and everything that is vegan is labeled with the “V”.

02.16.12: Personne n’est comme toi……0

Personne n’est comme toi,
Sauf toi.
J’en suis témoin.
Personne n’est comme toi, sauve-moi.
Et prends ma main.

The above first few lyrics are from actually, one of my favorite French bands, yes….I love French music. I absolutely adore Autour De Lucie, which is a band I found when in 2001 I walked into Virgin Mega Store which was located in Union Square and right into the World Music section, grabbed every French cd I can find knowing I’d be well on my way to visit.

I became instantly fond of this band and this song (and Immobile) and still listen to it often as I dance or sing to it walking down the street.

So if you see that crazy girl singing some french song out of tune while walking down Broadway: it’s me. 🙂

Today:

Bunny Shirt: bought in Dublin 10 years ago.

In keeping the honor of my Bunny Week (I started the week off wearing a shirt with hundreds of little bunnies on it..) I decided to wear one of the shirts I have had since my Dublin days. I bought this shirt in a market place that I frequented at a boutique named Lili. Ah, I miss that city.

Qu’importe comment,
Qu’importe pourquoi,
Qu’importe le temps… que ça durera.

Qu’importe comment,
Qu’importe pourquoi,
Qu’importe le temps… si c’est avec toi.

Vintage Jacket, thanks Jacquelyn!

Little Paw Prints!

The reason why I really think I wore this shirt today is because it’s the kind of weather that reminds me of London(or Dublin, or Scotland..) Not terribly cold but still raining. I just want to take off my jacket and run through the streets, letting the rain-soaked wind guide me, throwing my hands in the air and let go….just…be…free.

This won’t occur because reality tends to hit you in the face and you are left soaked and with the shivers.

I guess I don’t sound as positive as I normally do but I am, it’s Jacquelyn’s birthday today and I gave her a beautiful gift from Lush which she adored. Stepping into the shop to buy her gift gave me a reason to buy myself a few, as well. Purchasing perfume can be quite an easy task for me as I let the scents guide me and I know what I want…
So like the perfume & the rainstorms, guide me to tomorrow….
Qu’importe comment (Personne n’est comme toi…),
Qu’importe pourquoi,
Qu’importe le temps (Personne n’est comme toi…)… que ça durera.

Happy Birthday Jacquelyn & Carol! & Happy 1 year anniversary of Robyn & Bryan Blade’s on having cute Jessy Blade! (and mentioning me in your blog, robyn!)

With my niece, Jessy Blade at The Veggie Pride Parade in May, 2011.

02.07.12: Venus (De Milo)

The Birth of Venus, by Sandro Botticelli c. 1485–1486.

Tight toy night, streets were so bright.
The world looked so thin and between my bones and skin
there stood another person who was a little surprised
to be face to face with a world so alive.
I fell.

Television.

Venus (De Milo) just happens to be a song by the NY punk band, Television. The song was written by Tom Verlaine in the 70s and one of the most inspiring songs I have heard as I love it’s mellow riffs that seizes me into pure enjoyment. Richard Lloyd, a brilliant and soulful guitarist would play along to this mellowed song. (I still go see him play and am mesmerized every time.) Television just so happens to be one of the first punk bands to help open the famed club, CBGB’s.

History.

I grew up going to CBGB’s literally my whole life as I would always be in the East Village with my father and we would usually end up making a stop there. I have memories of my youthful life as I would try to be at the front of the small stage watching whatever punk band or new artist was up there. Throughout my life, I would frequent the club and well into my early 20’s I would sometimes participate in small showcases and introduce friend’s bands and basically bask in the history of this East Village hangout. Do you know the history? SO many incredible bands first played on that stage that was built by, you guessed it, Television and The Ramones. I didn’t care what it looked like or smelled like: this bar was just another part of my life and I lived it. I’d end up moshing (but not too much!) or going there on New Year’s Eve to count down. Life, such an easy time when CBGB’s existed and now that it is gone: New York is missing something spectacular called edgy creativity.

Didja feel low? No, not at all. Huh???

I fell right into the Arms of Venus de Milo.
I stood up, walked out of the Arms of Venus de Milo.
You know it’s all like some new kind of drug.
My senses are sharp and my hands are like gloves.

Last night after work, I decided to take a walk with Kate up to Union Square and run some errands. The light breeze was revitalizing as I made my errands and decided to just take another long walk downtown out of pure joy. I let my body guide me without my thoughts to apparent and just enjoyed the cities lights. I love this city on nights like these, because I felt like I let go; of thoughts, of restrictions….take me dear wind, into your hollow arms.

I bought myself a gift at Lush, which smells of sweet Argon oil with rose and is a “Body Conditioner” and a few other sweet scented items there, as well. After having a long conversation with the retail girl and talking to her about veganism, she said “if you have skin like that, I am going vegan”, modest me, I can’t take compliments well but I thanked her and then we continued to talk about other things in our life. I love New York City because of just that fact: I can meet a perfect stranger at a retail store and strike up a great conversation.

Needless to say about the conditioner, I couldn’t wait to get it home and try it out. It was AMAZING, the moment I stepped out of the shower and towel dried myself off: and took a deep breath in of the  sweet rose petal scent and it brought me instantly to a spring day and my skin felt as soft as the petals themselves. I fell in love with myself all over again. 🙂 Is this the start of a new addiction? I guarantee, as well as 100% vegan. Honestly, I love taking care of myself and it’s not vanity as some might say when people do this.  I enjoy myself having nice nails, hair, smooth skin & the beauty of taking care of and loving yourself.

Today, I woke up and took my sweet time as I chose my vintage dress & cardigan for the day: Blue, in honor of the bright blue skies outdoors.

It's a Blue Tuesday.....Vintage Cardigan: Etsy.com

60's shift dress: Beacons closet for $18.00!

This cardigan happens to be one of my favorite finds on Etsy.com. I tend to shop Etsy quite a bit as I can always find a vintage outfit, scarf, top, furniture or decoration easily. There is also Vegan Etsy where I either buy myself plenty of cute little vegan items or my friends gifts for their birthdays, ah how I adore Vegan Etsy.

Sunny dresses for rose petal days and soft sentimental hearts.

Suddenly my eyes went so soft and shaky.
I knew there was pain but pain is not aching.
Then Richie, Richie said:
“Hey man let’s dress up like cops
Think of what we could do!”
But something, something said “you better not.”
And I fell.
